Compassion

“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.”
~Pema Chödrön, from her book, “The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times.”

Physical body, our – is to our spirit what the universe is to God’s spirit

Daily Meditation: Friday, February 15, 2019

“Human beings are composed of matter, the physical body, and of a subtle principle, the spirit. But above all, human beings are spirits. If they have been given bodies, it is so that through them, the spirit can manifest and work on the physical plane.
The relation of human beings’ bodies to their spirit is what the universe is to God’s spirit. The universe is God’s body, and through this body, his spirit reveals all its riches. The universe only exists because God’s spirit continues to penetrate it in order to animate it and give it life. If God withdrew, the universe would return to nothingness. And the same is true for humans: when the spirit animating them leaves their body, it takes with it all its treasures: life, energy and consciousness, and their body disintegrates.”
